About Us

New owner Kate Knisely with former owner Creegan Edmonds

Our Quality

With cream prices rising constantly, most of our competitors have been buying watered down cream ( less % butterfat) to make their ice cream. This means you are getting more water than cream and that also creates ice crystals in the product as well as freezer burn. We use a high quality cream, and the same butterfat content that we used when we opened 35 years ago. We never skimp on any ingredients no matter the cost. While we may not offer the cheapest ice cream, we definitely offer the best. The best cream, the best (freshest) nuts as well as real Oreos, real fruit and real vanilla!

Kate Knisely – Owner

Kate bought the business June 17, 2014 from previous owner Creegan Edmonds who opened the shop on August 13, 1982. Originally from Richmond Virginia, Kate and her family had been vacationing on the island since she was 3. She took her first steps on the beach and learned how to ride a bike here. Now her entire family have all relocated here (her sister and her husband own Adventure Cove). Her collegiate background is in Psychology and she has a Masters in mental health counseling. When her childhood favorite ice cream shop came up for sale, she just had to do it! There’s nothing like living on the beach and having an ice cream store! She still counsels on the weekends as well as volunteers around the world with animals (last year in South Africa at a lion and tiger orphanage).

Jeff – Assistant Manager/Ice Cream Maker

Jeff was born and raised on the Island and has been working at the shop since December 2002. He started working up front in the retail store scooping, then transitioned to being the wholesale delivery driver. Jeff moved to being the full time ice cream maker about a year ago. Jeff is the assistant manager as well so he’s the point person for any wholesaler to contact about designing their own unique flavor! Jeff is a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and you will usually see him making ice cream in his Cardinals hat! He also loves video games. One very cool thing is that Jeff met his wife working at the shop years ago when she was also working here!
